Cs optical atomic clock with a mode-hop-free fiber laser

Abstract(in English) Recently, delivery technique of standards through optical fiber networks has been receiving a lot of attention with respect to their application to frequency standard and measurement. As such optical signal source, we have developed a Cs optical atomic clock that uses a regeneratively mode-locked fiber laser (MLFL) as a microwave oscillator and an optically pumped Cs gas cell as a frequency standard. The Cs optical atomic clock can emit stable transform-limited picosecond pulses with a repetition rate of 9.1926GHz (Cs resonance). However, it was difficult to control the optical frequency of the optical output pulse from the Cs atomic clock because of the MLFL mode-hopping. In this work, we achieved mode-hop-free Cs optical atomic clock by inserting an etalon in the MLFL.
