Abstract(in English) We have fabricated and characterized Ti-diffused channel waveguides on Er-doped LiNbO_3 (Er-LN) single crystal. A loss-compensated Ti-diffused waveguide could be realized at 1550.0nm signal light (TM mode) by optical forward-pumping at 1484nm with pump power of 45mW for a 32mm long Ti-diffused Z-cut 0.5mol% Er-LN waveguide. As applied optical devices, we demonstrated reciprocating optical modulation (ROM) and mode-locked laser by sandwiching the phase modulator on the Er-doped LiNbO_3 waveguide with two fiber Bragg gratings. Using ROM at 10GHz, the sideband component of 50GHz was successfully enhanced and increased by 10dB by the optical pumping. The mode-locked laser emits pulses 3.86ps width by driving the phase modulator at 9.27GHz.
