Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Reading is one of the bases of second language learning, and it can be most effective when the text being read is of the appropriate difficulty level for its reader. The present paper analyses factors involved in determining readability as pointed out in previous research, with a view to their applicability to the automatised measurement of the readability of Japanese texts for second language readers, and presents a corpus of textbooks of Japanese as a second language which can serve as a criterion for readability assessment for foreign learners of Japanese.
