Abstract(in English) | In cellular systems, it is important to design service areas appropriately for providing various services such as web browsing and video streaming. In existing cellular systems, service areas are evaluated based on the measurements of radio link qualities, such as Received Signal Strength (RSS) and Signal to Interference and Noise power Ratio (SINR). These systems determine the service area where the values of radio link qualities exceed the predetermined thresholds. The 3rd Generation cellular systems select the optimum data rate for each user in accordance with the varying radio link quality using Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) scheme and Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ). Therefore, it is required to consider communication service qualities, such as throughput, for designing their service areas. This paper proposes a method which estimates the maximum throughput performance by measuring average and standard deviation of received SINR, and deriving Modulation and Coding Set (MCS) and the average number of packet transmission by HARQ with considering the improvement by packet combining of HARQ. This paper also verifies the validity of the proposed method by some experiments. |
