Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) is a multiple access technique that discriminates among multiple users by using a low-rate channel code and an individual interleaver for each user. Thus, IDMA is expected to improve spectrum efficiency in mobile communications. This report considers MIMO-OFDM IDMA that is a combination of IDMA with MIMO-OFDM, and proposes an iterative receiver for MIMO-OFDM IDMA. The proposed receiver repeats a joint processing of iterative multiuser detection (MUD) and channel estimation by exploiting log-likelihood ratios of coded bits (bit LLR) that channel decoders provide. In the initial process, the channel estimator performs channel estimation using a preamble which is orthogonal to that of each stream for all users, and the iterative MUD performs MMSE detection to suppress undesired streams. In the subsequent iterative process, the channel estimator carries out soft decision-directed channel estimation (SDCE) by exploiting the bit LLRs, and the iterative MUD generates an interference replica using the bit LLRs, and removes the replica from the received signal. Then it performs MMSE filtering to suppress the residual interference and combine the desired stream. Moreover, for improving estimation accuracy and reducing complexity, the channel estimator selects estimated parameters, which is called tap selection. Computer simulations evaluate transmission performances of the receiver employing the iterative joint-processing of MUD and the channel estimation. It is also shown that SDCE can drastically improve accuracy of the channel estimation in the initial process, and thus the receiver can achieve an excellent transmission performance.
