Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Toward broadband cellular systems, a system for improving cell edge throughput with low complexity is proposed. Simultaneous improvement of both SNR and SIR seems to be necessary for enhancement of cell edge throughput. To improve the SNR, a system that remote radio units (RRU) are placed densely is assumed for reducing propagation loss. Baseband units (BBU) are put at one place and connections between BBUs and RRUs are realized by optical fibers. To improve the SIR, a frequency selective switch shall be inserted between BBUs and RRUs, and different RRU clusters among subbands (Frequency Selective Offset Cells) are generated. When each UE selects a subband performing the preferred RRU cluster, influences of inter-cell interferences can be practically reduced. In each RRU cluster, conventional signal processing such as a single user MIMO is applied for low complexity. According to analyses based on Shannon capacity, we confirmed the proposed system is effective to achieve the improvement of cell edge throughput.
