Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) While Single-mode fiber are widely used in optical communications outside buildings, on the other hand MMF is used for in building networks. Transmission capacity and bandwidth are limited by the modal dispersion in legacy MMFs to 26m link length, or over 300m with newly developed OM3 is used. However, kilometers link length should be necessary to fill the backbone needs. Solution is that, excites the only fundamental mode the MMF by using single-mode waveguide, and the possibility consideration of the long-distance transmission by using the 10Gbps signal.
