Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the recent years, the development of safety system technologies have contributed to reduce deaths from traffic accidents, but the number of traffic accidents has persisted high level. The majority of traffic accidents are caused by driver's drowsiness. Several theoretical methods concerning the estimation of drowsiness level based on physiological signals or driving performance have been suggested, however, the confirmed method have not devised yet. This study therefore proposes the estimation method of drowsiness level by Loss-Based Decoding Error-Correcting Output Coding (LD-ECOC) based on the eyelid closure and heart rate variability. Through the performance validation of proposal method during the experiments using the driving simulator, we obtained very high accuracy for estimation of drowsiness level.
