Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | While satellite network and Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) are completely different networks, the integration between these networks has large potential to provide Internet access anywhere on the earth. However, an obvious issue exists in such hybrid satellite/MANET networks. The performance of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), de-fact standard protocol in Internet, can be largely degraded in such hybrid environments due to long propagation delay, frequent connection breaks, and wireless link errors. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of TCP over hybrid networks, mainly from the point of view of throughput. |
