Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) NTT has developed "variable polarization frequency division multiplexing (VPFDM) technology". It enables earth stations to use a simple and low-cost polarization tracking free antenna. This paper proposes a new channel allocation algorithm for a new satellite communication system that adapts the VPFDM technology. The proposed algorithm can maximally utilize the satellite resources such as satellite transmission power and satellite transponder bandwidth by employing adaptive modulation and coding. In addition, it enables conventional earth stations and new earth stations (VPFDM stations) to share a same satellite transponder. We demonstrate that the proposed algorithm satisfactorily enhances the channel accommodation capacity compared to the conventional channel allocation algorithm.
