Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method for detecting estrus in dairy cattle by using an acceleration sensor is presented. Estrus detection is one of the most important things in dairy husbandry. Our estrus detection method is based on a simple statistic index. Several days observations were performed and the hourly durations when the minute-based standard deviation of the acceleration sensor values for a leg is high, is experimentally proved to be effective at recognizing estrus. Practical problems such as automatic parameter settings are also evaluated.
