Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been widely noticed for next generation mobile communications. OFDM systems have a problem that peak power of the transmitted signal can be very high. Selected Mapping (SLM) is one of the methods to reduce the peak power. In SLM, each sub-carrier is given an individual phase rotation to bring down the peak power. Then, it is necessary to transmit side information about the phase rotation to the receiver as well. In this paper, the authors deal with a sub-carrier selection method that is a variation of SLM but unnecessary to transmit the side information. In the sub-carrier selection method, all sub-carriers are paired off into pairs and the transmitted signal is organized by sub-carriers that are alternatively selected from each sub-carrier pair so as to reduce the peak power. In this paper, Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of the sub-carrier selection method is investigated by computer simulations. As the result, the authors show that sub-carrier selection method with an optimum pairing can reduce PAPR to 3.0dB or less when the number of sub-carriers N=16.
