Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The concern with barrier-free and universal design in society has been growing. It is necessary to create a social infrastructure for handicapped people. In this paper, we propose a novel walking supporting system for the visually-impaired persons using cellular phone with Bluetooth function and investigate its performance. We propose a new algorithm to detect the location of the user on braille blocks for supporting them and compare it with the conventional one. We carry out some experiments using our application on the cellular phone and show an availability of the proposed algorithm. Moreover, we discuss problems caused by our system and indicate methods to improve it.
