Resonant wavelength tuning of LPFG by loading solid medium

Abstract(in English) For gain equalizing applications of long period fiber grating (LPFG) used in optical fiber amplifier, tuning of the transmission characteristics is the most important technology. In previous works, we have demonstrated the capabilities of the resonant wavelength tuning, which loading lower refractive index medium outside the fiber cladding (n_D=1.4586) shows shift of resonant wavelength dip to shorter wavelength. In this paper, we partially loaded PVDF (n_D=1.42) as solid medium outside the LPFG cladding, and changes of the transmission characteristics were examined.
