Simple Technique for Measuring Raman Gain Efficiency Spectrum Based on OTDR

Abstract(in English) A simple technique for measuring Raman gain efficiency spectrum distribution using an OTDR is proposed. Our technique based on bidirectional OTDR method is a simple technique for estimating Raman gain efficiency spectrum by utilizing the relationship between Raman gain coefficient and relative-index difference for GeO_2 doped core fibers and wavelength dependence of mode field diameter. Measurement experiment of Raman gain efficiency is made on the optical transmission line composed of 3 fibers to confirm the effectiveness of our technique. Experimental results by our present technique are compared with those by direct technique using spectrum analyzer.
