Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | All-optical clock recovery using the temporal Talbot effect (TTE) has a potential that the original clock pulses can be recovered by simply applying the specific first-order wavelength-dispersion determined by the bit rate to an on-off keyed signal. However, the recovered pulse train suffers from long-period amplitude variations for {0} bits sequences of the signal. Another approach for the simple all-optical clock recovery is the technique based on the optical pulse injection into a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based fiber ring laser (SOA-FRL). Although this technique can recover clock pulses from an arbitrary bit-rate signal thanks to the SOA-FRL's cavity-length flexibility, the output pulse train suffers from short-period pattern effects due to the SOAs' modulation speed limitation. It is expected that the disadvantages of these two all-optical clock recovery techniques can be compensated each other by combining them. In this report, we propose and experimentally evaluate operating characteristics of the novel all-optical clock recovery technique using the TTE in conjunction with the subsequent optical pulse injection into the SOA-FRL. |
