Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Much attention has been paid to the researches of optical packet switching and optical label processing because these are expected to handle huge amount of IP traffic in recent years with low power consumption. We demonstrate the operation performance of an optical serial-to-parallel converter for optical label processing, which is composed of a phase-shifted preamble and Mach Zehnder delay interferometers (MZDIs) with high speed and low power consumption. We evaluated analytically the tolerance of phase mismatches of MZDIs, the impact of the extinction ratio of the input signal and the effect of waveguide loss to the bit scalability. Also, 4-bit operation at 40Gbit/s was achieved experimentally.
