Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been working on arbitral waveform generation using an optical pulse synthesizer, which consists of an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), intensity and phase modulators. It can control intensities and phases of individual frequency components of optical frequency comb and produce arbitral waveforms. Controllable bandwidth of AWG made limitation on flexibility of the produced pulse waveforms, especially on narrowing their pulse widths. In this paper, we introduced the optical pulse compression technique and realized flexible pulse compression technique which can change compressed pulse widths and waveforms. Because of the limitation, the optical pulse synthesizer could not produce the pulses whose pulse width was shorter than 3ps. By introducing the pulse compression technique, we realized 1.3ps pulse width and pedestal free pulses.
