Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a method which detects and removes line scratches included in film sequences. First, we detect the scratch region to limit the processing area. To detect line scratches, we treat the continuous frames as one image. Then, we filter it along the vertical axis and downsample the resulting image. To remove line scratches, we use an averaging filter and a median filter to process the convexes and the concaves of image intensity in the scratch region. The experimental results show that line scratches are removed successfully without blurring or block noise.
