Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A set of techniques for high-speed decoding are reported to achieve simultaneous handling of H.264 stream on mobile devices. The decoding process is simplified with acceptable degradation of the image quality. Concretely, decoding time is analyzed for H.264 streams, and decoding process of the motion compensation and the deblocking filter is simplified to mitigate large operation workload. Moreover, the technique for reducing the amount of operations by omitting some frames is also implemented. By combining the proposed techniques, phased reduction of operation workload can be achieved down to 43% of normal decoding. The effect of each technique on image quality is described.
