Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, three-dimensional (3D) images such as X-ray CTs and MRIs are frequently used, especially in medical field. The relationship among isosurfaces in 3D images has important role to understand the objects described in the images. We have proposed Contour Nest for two-dimensional (2D) display of the structure of isosurfaces described by Contour Tree. Since Contour Nest does not display the spatial distribution of isosurfaces in input 3D images, we introduce a procedure to solve the problem. The proposed method extracts the distributions of regions surrounded by closed isosurfaces along a focused one-dimensional axis, and displays the distributions in 2D layout. Using this method, we can visualize not only the relationship among isosurfaces, but also the distributions of regions reflecting the shapes of 3D isosurfaces.
