Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we discuss the detection of drunk drivers before they start driving by measuring their pupil diameters. We first focus on the relationship between ambient illuminance and the diameter of driver's pupils for six drivers. Based on an experiment for obtaining the relationship, we showed detectability of drunk drivers by measuring their pupil diameters. Especially, two parameters 0.63-mydriasis time ratio and pupil diameter recovery time ratio were the most significant parameters related to the alcoholic condition of drivers among several parameters.
