Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) gives us increasingly detailed information about the loci of brain activities in vivo human. However, the statistical procedures of fMRI data and some noises could cause uncertainty in localization, which limits the effective resolution of functional imaging. Nerve fiber tractgraphy based on magnetic resonance diffusion tensor images is a promising method to localize activated brain regions and estimate functional connectivity among activated areas detected by fMRI. In general, tractgraphies are able to track nerve fibers between near areas. However, it is difficult to track nerve fibers between distant areas via corpus callosum due to partial volume effect in nerve fiber crossing areas. In this paper, we proposed a new tractography by searching curvature deviation in fiber crossing areas. The method was evaluated by simulation images. The results demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method.
