Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In endoscopic surgery of colon cancer, it is important to understand an appropriate resection region for decision of the positions of lymph nodes related to a tumor. We have developed a method to extract such lymph nodes using minimum directional difference filter. In this paper, we present a method for extracting lymph nodes based on estimation and classification of local intensity structure. In this scheme, we assume that lymph nodes show blob-like structures. The experimental results showed that the proposed methods are quite useful in detection of lymph nodes from CT images. It was possible to segment about 81% of lymph nodes from CT images correctly.
