Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order for the multi-mode mobile terminal to achieve a seamless vertical handoff, the terminal shall perform the operation of communication link and the periodical monitoring of the received signal power of other system, simultaneously. Considering with the power consumption of the terminal, the amount of the processing load required for monitoring should be small as much as possible. When the measurement interval is set to be short, then the tracking capability improves, however the power consumption increases. In order to solve this problem, we propose a new method to control the measurement interval depending on the variance of the received signal power. In this study, an adaptive control method using a simple judgment probabilistic inequality is newly proposed to control the measurement interval.
