Superposed Multi-Carrier Transmission and its Application to Satellite Communications

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose the superposed multi-carrier transmission which superposes spectra of a satellite communication system and a land mobile communication system. It is evaluated that its applicability when interference suppression schemes for transmitters and receivers are adopted only for the land mobile communication system, with no change for the satellite communication system. We have proposed FEC metric masking processing as an interference suppression scheme, in which FEC encoded packets are decoded after the metrics of interfered subcarriers are replaced to the most ambiguous values in the receiver. We also have proposed a cyclical decoding scheme, which updates the metric of subcarriers on superposed bandwidth by newly calculated metric from replica bits to offer higher reception performance. In this paper, we introduce a simple subcarrier puncturing scheme for transmit spectrum filtering. By computer simulation we show that the proposed scheme is able to improve the D/U vs BLER performance and that the area limitation of the land mobile communication system does not depend to received C/N for the satellite communication system.
