Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study, we investigated effects of information acquisition through a partner in collaborative problem solving. In the experiment, an insight problem that participants met an impasse since some constraints prevent them from reaching a solution was used as an experimental task. To find the solution, they needed to realize an irrelevant problem space where they are captured. Two conditions were set up: (1) the solo condition that the participants evaluated a rejected hypothesis of their own hypothesis during solving problem; and (2) the pair condition that they evaluated same hypothesis as a partner's hypothesis. The experimental results showed that information acquisition through a partner did not influence hypothesis generation process though evaluation time for the hypothesis increased.
