Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The science miss-communication, or inability to disseminate scientific knowledge and ideas among scientific communities and/or the whole society, should inevitably hinders their utilization, which eventually deteriorate the quality of the inter-disciplinary research activities. Such miss-communication would results in the negative outcomes that the tax money investigated into the scientific research will not be plowed back to society. This research explores the ways to prevent the scientific miss-communication by inquiring into its causes. As the initial stage of the exploration, we have been collecting and analyzing cases of scientific miss-communication by interviewing eleven scientists from a variety of disciplines using the critical incident technique. Through the analysis using three dimensions of "recipient attribute", "breadth", and "depth" of communication, we identified that perceived causes and solutions differ depending upon the recipient attribute, width reflects the initiator's attribute and experiences, and the depth depends on the relationships with the recipient.
