Abstract(in English) Integrated photonic switch fabric with nanosecond reconfiguration time and broad operating bandwidth is of particular interest for the future ultra-high capacity optical-packet-switching networks and optical interconnection systems. We have focused on integrated optical phased-array 1×N switch, which is expected to have potential scalability with increasing port count N. We have successfully fabricated 1×5 and 1×8 switches, monolithically integrated on InP, and demonstrated low-power, nanoseconds switching by using the carrier-induced phase modulation in the InGaAsP layer. The applicability of our switch to 320-Gbps (40-Gbps×8) wavelength-multiplexed optical packet switching is also demonstrated experimentally.
