Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For the energy efficient networking, some studies have proposed sleep control or adaptive control of the bandwidth of Network Interface Cards (NICs) depending on the arrival traffic load and have shown their effectiveness for power-saving of the network devices. However, the existing routing protocols only provide the minimum cost path by calculating static metric in terms of forwarding performance, e.g., the number of hops and the bandwidth of link, therefore the network devices may consume high energy due to concentration of the traffic on the minimum cost path. In order to reduce the energy consumption of networking devices more, this paper proposes a novel routing scheme, that aggregates arrival traffic depending on the total amount of traffic load in the network, for power-saving of networking devices. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme reduces sum of energy consumption of routers in the network when the traffic load is relatively light compared to the physical bandwidth of the aggregation path.
