Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Shape encoding plays the most important role in the realization of robust shape cognition. Recent physiological studies with Macaque suggested that object shape is encoded by medial-axis in primary visual cortex (V1). We studied what mechanisms realize the medial-axis representation by a population of V1 cells. We showed that (1) the object shape is encoded as medial axis by the onset synchronization of Border-Ownership selective cells, (2) the arbitrary shapes could be decoded by its medial-axis. |
