Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In high speed and long distance networks, TCP NewReno, which is the most popular version of TCP, can not achieve the enough throughput because of the essential nature of TCP's congestion control mechanism. Therefore, Compound TCP has been proposed. Conmound TCP can achieve considerably larger throughput than TCP NewReno in high speed and long distance networks. Congestion control of Compound TCP consists of loss-based and delay-based congestion controls. On the other hand, in wireless LAN, the throughput among TCP connections becomes unfair owing to the media access control of wireless LAN. Since Compound TCP has congestion control of the same kind as TCP, it is expected that the same problem occurs among Compound TCP connections. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of Compound TCP over wireless LAN, and we show that the throughput among Compound TCP connections becomes unfair. Then, we propose Compound TCP+ which solves this unfair problem and show that Compound TCP+ connections share bandwidth fairly by simulation.
