Resource Guarantee Techniques in Telecom Networks based on Ethernet

Abstract(in English) Ethernet has been applied to LAN originally. However, recently, it has been deployed to telecom network by economical reason and capability of broadband transmission. In this case, the resource guarantee function is required as one of mandatory expanded functions. The latest telecom network, such as NGN (Next Generation Network), will provide the QoS guarantee service. Therefore, Ethernet has to support the resource guarantee function for this service. This report surveys technical trends of resource guarantee techniques, and discusses suitability that these techniques can be applied to Ethernet.
