Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been quantitatively studying the limiting factors of carrier transport in pentacene polycrystalline films using four-point-probe field-effect measurements, which can eliminate the influences of electrodes, and atomic-force-microscope potentiometry, which can quantitatively visualize the transport bottlenecks in working OTFTs. In this paper, the following results will be presented from our recent studies: (i) potential barriers at crystalline domain boundaries, (ii) HOMO-band edge fluctuation in a crystalline domain, and (iii) carrier mobility when across a domain boundary. From these studies, how much the carrier mobility is suppressed by each stage of the hierarchical structure in pentacene polycrystalline films became to be understood.
