Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The gain switching of a laser diode (GS-LD) is one of the most simple short optical pulse generation techniques. However it has several problems of pulse quality. One problem is a large time jitter in rising edge of an optical pulse train. W We focused the seeds of optical pulsed oscillations at LD's when the optical pulses were created. We proposed a way of time jitter suppression to control optical pulse generation timing by using a reflection mirror to be a trigger of the optical pulse generation timing as optical seeds' pulses. We succeed to suppress the fluctuation with only the simple partial reflection mirror. Although the fluctuation was successfully well suppressed, we need to improve the quality of the optical pulse seeds because the generated optical pulses from the LD include much wavelength chirping. In this paper, we report improving the quality of the optical pulse seeds by using a selective wavelength light from a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and its contribution for the quality of the generated optical pulses from the LD.
