Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When a wireless LAN has a heavy traffic load, the voice communication quality strikingly deteriorates due to the latency, packet loss and jitter. It is, however, possible to improve the quality by controlling the packet-sending method adapted to the traffic condition in the corresponding wireless LAN. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate the bandwidth utilization in the destination network using the packet loss rate. The packet loss rate is measured by sending UDP test-packets for 5 seconds during the call between the two phones. The preliminary experimental result shows the availability of the proposed method with the accuracy of more than 90%.
