Abstract(in English) | Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) has attracted attentions as a promising technology for improving frequency spectrum utilization. For DSA, low-priority system is allowed to transmit the spectrum without interfering high-priority system. It is preferable to select modulation scheme which is appropriate for the low-priority user's condition and radio environment considering required E_b/N_0, frequency efficiency, PAPR. In the case of packet communication, Adaptive Modulation and channel Coding (AMC) is adopted. When received SINR condition is better, higher order modulation scheme such as Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) is selected in order to transmit high speed packets. However, the higher order QAM may occur link performance degradation due to the shorter Euclidean distance in the constellation. Meanwhile, lower order modulation scheme such as Phase Shift Keying (PSK) is capable of preventing such performance degradation. Thus, it is expected to improve link performance by using PSK instead of QAM. In this paper, we propose a Partial Spectrum Transmission (PST) method for single carrier transmission. The proposed method would be applicable for the DSA systems. It is shown by computer simulations that the performance of PST outperforms the performance of conventional QAM when coding rate and roll-off factor are high value. Specifically, required E_b/N_0 at Block Error Rate (BLER) of 10^<-2> and PAPR for the proposed PST (1/2) is reduced by approximately maximum 1dB comparing to that of 16QAM respectively, under the conditions of coding rate of 8/9 and roll-off factor α=0.7~1.0. |
