OFC/NFOEC 2009 : Passive Optical Module/Device

Abstract(in English) Research activities and trend of passive optical components reported in OFC/NFOEC 2009 are reviewed. Ring resonator with silicon waveguide is a major topic and some devices achieve switching or controlling the delay buffer for 10Gbps or 40Gb/s optical signal, which suggests that the technology on silicon device makes steady progress. Dispersion compensators for compact integration on chip, or for simultaneous multi-channel operation are reported, and the future progress of research activity with dispersion compensation in optical region will be paid attention.
