Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Increased bandwidth demands require more efficient use of the available optical spectrum in single-mode fibers. Complex optical devices are required to generate, filter, and receive optical signals with spectrally efficient modulation formats such as polarization-division multiplexed quadrature phase-shift keying. We will discuss various photonic integrated circuits that can realize these complex devices in a small footprint and at a potentially low cost.
