Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the Internet, video streaming service in which users can enjoy videos at home is becoming popular. Video streaming with HDTV or UHDV class quality will be also provided and widely demanded in future. However, the transmission bit-rate of video streaming with high quality is quite large, so generated traffic flows will cause link congestion. In the Internet, routes that packets take are determined by using static link weights, so the maximum network throughput, i.e., the maximum achievable throughout by the network, is determined by the capacity of bottleneck link with the maximum utilization although the utilizations of many links remain low level. Therefore, when providing streaming services of rich content, it is important to improve the maximum network throughput by flattening the link utilization, i.e., reducing the maximum link utilization. In this paper, we propose that ISPs use parallel download to deliver rich content to balance the link utilization, and propose optimum server allocation and server selection methods for parallel download.
