Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Displacement measurement using a displacement sensor that consists of a pair of crossed optical fibers is described. Displacement is obtained from measured values of strains produced in the two optical fibers and the dimensions of some parts of the displacement sensor. The influence of the strain measurement error on the displacement measurement was theoretically investigated, using the dimensions of some parts of the sensor as parameters. As a result of conducting displacement measurements using a prototype sensor, it was confirmed that displacements can be obtained with an error of no more than ca. 2-% for a given displacement.
