Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have studied a multi-user virtual reality system for disaster damage examination and rescue planning using a reconstructed virtual model of the remote disaster site. Joint attention is said to have an important role in such a spatial collaboration as well as visualization techniques to visualize participants' location, proximity and perspectives. We have previously implemented a lens-shaped virtual tool to identify a region of interest of participants and to alleviate occlusion. However, the lens interface does not help in recognizing participants perspectives. In this article, we propose a technique to visualize the visible area in the participants' view considering the occlusion between objects and also visualize the location of participants. Implementation of the prototype system is also described as well as discussion and future directions.
