Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We measured the perceived mechanical impedance of the deformable objects pushed by the participant's arm to explore the mechanism of the haptic perception. Experiment 1 examined effects of delay of feedback force on perception of elastic stiffness. The results showed the perceived stiffness decreased as the delay of feedback force increased. Experiments 2 and 3 examined the terminal force and the mechanical work cues using the normal spring. The results showed that the terminal force and the mechanical work were insufficient as the basis of the perception of stiffness. We proposed a quantitative model which explains the resuluts of the experiments. According to the model, stiffness is perceived as the temporal mean of the resitive force with the decay factor. Finally we discussed the extension of the model.
