Estimation of direction and waveform of source signals using a seven-microphone array on the Cartesian coordinate

Abstract(in English) Estimation of direction in a three-dimensional space is useful for noise suppression and signal enhancement in case of receiving sounds with far-field microphones. A liner microphone array is not sufficient for estimating arrival direction in the three-dimensional space. Proposed in this report is a microphone array having seven elements on the Cartesian coordinate, and its performance in estimating arrival direction and emphasizing target signals is investigated. MUSIC is employed for estimating arrival direction and delay-and-sum is used for enhancing target signals. Occurrence frequency of errors within ±5° in estimating direction of arrival is 72% for one source cases, 44% for two source cases, 28% for three source cases and 28% for four source cases. Improvement of SNR by delay-and-sum simulation with the seven element array is about 7dB in average for 132 patterns of source direction.
