Abstract(in English) | In mobile communication systems, the received signal level varies due to fading, shadowing and path loss and therefore, the transmission performance degrades. Instead of using all of transmit antennas at a base station, the outage probability in a service area can be reduced significantly by distributing many antennas. Recently, we evaluated the downlink outage probability of a distributed antenna network (DAN) using maximal ratio transmission (MRT) diversity in a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) multi-cell environment and showed that as the number of distributed transmit antennas increases, the frequency efficiency improves. However, even using transmit diversity only, the received signal power still varies due to fading, shadowing and path loss. Transmit power control (TPC) can be used to suppress the received signal power variation. However, to the best of our knowledge, so far there has been no study of the impact of TPC on the spectrum efficiency of DAN. In this paper, we evaluate, by computer simulation, the effect of transmit power control on the downlink frequency efficiencies of a cellular DAN using MRT diversity. |
