Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we resolve the problem of fractional frequency reuse without compromising the system performance between sector throughput and user coverage, and without requiring any additional control channels. To this end, we present a novel concept for FFR using a step-function mechanism that controls transmission power spectrum density in frequency domain. The distribution of down-link transmission power spectrum density across the entire bandwidth is adjusted by controlling the slope and intercept which drive the step-function based on interference level self-learnt from neighbouring cells. The stepwise power level is determined by individual user first, whereby each serving sector determines its transmission power and maximizes the system capacity. This approach neither compromises system performance, nor requires additional control channel, but creates user coverage gain as compared to conventional FFR.
