Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, researches about power saving technique has been attracting global attention because of environmental, political and economical reasons. Meanwhile, power consumption in the information-communication field has been increasing. This is especially true in the access network, where its power consumption accounts for the major share of that in entire network because of its high number of equipments. This report proposes an access network system which realizes both higher rate and power saving by utilizing the WDM technique. In this system, power saving is accomplished by allocating wavelengths to each user dynamically and applying sleep mode to each wavelength depending on the use of bandwidth. Some operation check results of receiver for ONU which receives 16 signals of 2.5Gb/s are shown to verify the validity of the proposed method.
