Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A Radome is a weatherproof enclosure that protects antenna from rain and hail impact and so on. In any case, radomes are constructed using a dielectric material to minimize the attenuation of electromagnetic signals. Furthermore, the lightning strips may be equipped on the radome for protection of the antenna from a lightning stroke. In this study, the new prediction method of lightning strip protection area using the FDTD method is proposed to consider the optimum design of lightning strip arrangement. We show the comparison of the lightning protection area between one lightning strip and two lightning strips on the flat plate using this method. The lightning protection area on the flat plate with two lightning strips is slightly greater than the two overlapping protection areas of one lightning strip, and the protection area tends to extend with a decrease in the spacing between two lightning strips.
