Abstract(in English) 16APSK and 32APSK, which have high transmission efficiency, are being studied aiming at transmitting more HDTV programs per channel or realizing high quality services beyond HDTV. Multi-level modulation such as APSK is vulnerable to non-linear distortion of satellite transponder. In this paper, we propose a predistortion technique on transmitter which estimates the distortion over the satellite channels in advance and compensates for every signal point based on the estimation. APSK requires quasi-linear transponders which mean larger back-off for operating TWTA(Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier). In this paper, we report investigation results by computer simulation on the compensation effect of this compensation technique.
