Analysis of Adaptive Reduced-Rank filter for DS/CDMA Communication System

Abstract(in English) In DS/CDMA communication systems, the introduction of array antennas is extremely effective to the communication capacity improvement. But, if the full rank MMSE signal detection is made, the processing dimension increases and the computational cost becomes unrealistic. Moreover, the required number of reference symbols for the correlation matrix calculation is increased by the factor of the antenna element number, which causes the degradation in the response characteristics of the adaptive MMSE receiver. The reduced-rank MMSE signal detection method that uses a signal subspace is effective to solve these problems. Especially, the CGRRF(Conjugate Gradient Reduced Rank Filter) shows high convergence rate and robustness. On the other hand, the RGMF(Recursive Gradient MMSE Filter) previously proposed by us shows slightly low convergence rate compared with the CGRRF. But, it shows higher robustness against channel estimation error than the CGRRF. In this paper, we discuss the robustness of the RGMF through analyzing both the RGMF and the CGRRF operations.
